New Delhi: Some social media users and media outlets shared videos and articles claiming that slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” were raised after the Samajwadi Party candidate Irshad Ahmed won municipal polls in Fatehpur, Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh.
The video with the said claim was shared by Barabanki News on Twitter (web archive)among many other users and influencers.
The claim was also made by IndiaTV in this article and by ABP Ganga via YouTube.
Fact Check/Verification
The video went viral on 13th May 2023, and on the same day the Barabanki Police posted a tweet giving out a statement that after investigation the viral video was found to be doctored.
The Barabanki Police also posted a written statement via Twitter conveying the same.
Thus the viral claim that “Pakistan slogans were raised after Irshad Ahmed’s win is completely FALSE.
Note: the Barabanki Police concluded the investigation and informed about the same on 13 May 2023 at 11:31PM; many users including media outlets claimed it anyway.
- The IndiaTV articled was published on 13 May 2023 at 11;47PM (16 minutes after the Police confirmed the video is doctored.
